Noise Control

What are the guidelines about noise?

General Rule

As defined by The City of Ann Arbor’s and The City of Ypsilanti's Noise Control Ordinance, “It shall be unlawful for any person to create, assist in creating, permit, continue or permit the continuance of any unreasonably loud, disturbing, unusual or unnecessary noise which annoys, disturbs, injures, or endangers the comfort, repose, health, peace or safety of others within the limits of the City of Ann Arbor.”

Per the Baker Street Lease Agreement —

Noise.  Making excessive noise or creating any disturbance late at night (after 10:00 pm) or early in the morning (before 7:00 am) is prohibited. Complaints to Baker Street of noise from property neighbors, the City, or HOA shall be shared with the Tenants, and the Tenants shall be subject to fines and fees.

Filing a Noise Complaint

If the noise issue involves a neighbor or property that we do not manage, then you can encourage the tenant to report the noise disturbance by calling the Ann Arbor Police Department at 734-994-2911.

If the noise issue involves a neighboring tenant, then please reach out to Baker Street via email to share your noise concern (including details such as the type of noise and day/time). We will correspond with the other tenant to share the concern and ask that they are respectful of their neighbors and keep excessive noise to a minimum.

For consistent noise violation issues, we may assess a fee, here is our fee structure --

  • Warning - No fee
  • First Offense - $75 Lease Violation Fee
  • Additional Issues - $150 Lease Violation Fee or further action
